William DeShazer is a Photojournalist currently working for The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn.
He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2007 with a degree in Photojournalism. William has held internships with The Idaho Statesman, The Flint Journal, The Herald (Jasper, IN) and The Dallas Morning News. He has freelanced for The New York Times, The Courier-Journal, The Blood-Horse Magazine, The Star-Ledger, and Golfweek. His work has ran in newspapers across America as well as National Geographic. He has held staff photography positions with the Chicago Tribune, the Naples Daily News and the Concord Monitor.
William has been recognized by College Photographer of the Year, Photographer of the Year, and the National Press Photographers Association. In 2006 he competed in the National Hearst Journalism Awards Championship and earned First Place honors for photojournalism. William won first place for the 2009 Illinois Photographer of the Year, placed third for 2010 Illinois Photographer of the Year and placed second for 2011 lllinois Photographer of the Year.
