“After a Mayor’s Mysterious Death, a Land Dispute Divides Republicans in Tennessee”

A land battle is underway in the suburbs between two booming cities in the south. Between Huntsville, AL and Nashville, TN is Coffee County. A rural community made up mostly of farmland that some people hope stays that way and others who want to have the rights to sell off their land to residential development.

I got to spend some time with the people and farmers of the area to explore what is happening and the fight between the two groups for The Wall Street Journal. It was a pleasure to meet and hear from the people of Coffee County.

These are my favorite types of stories to tell. Longer stories that are more feature focused at times, but tell a timely story. You get to sit with it and talk to real people fighting for what they believe in, but they are just living their lives. You get to cover events, grab portraits, and use all the tools in your kit.

I'm an editorial and commercial photographer based out of Nashville, TN. I grew up in Louisville, KY and it will always be my home. Because of that I'm partial to bourbon, horses, and baseball bats.

When not working I enjoy exploring Nashville with my wife, playing the guitar, buying records, or planning my next big trip.
